Manuela Mayer: New head of the League of Independent Welfare Services in BW!

A breath of fresh air is blowing in the league of independent welfare in Baden-Württemberg: Manuela Mayer took over management in August 2025 and will therefore succeed John Litau. With an impressive career as a social educator, ethicist and business economist, Mayer not only brings extensive experience from various social areas, but also has a clear vision for the future of this important institution.

Mayer, born in 1971 and native of Meßstetten in the Swabian Alb, did not limit her career to the first educational path. After completing commercial training, she continued her education and completed numerous professional positions. These include, among other things, her work in a facility for the disabled in Berlin and the management of the Federal Youth Office at the German Fire Brigade Association since 2006.

Experiences and goals

Before taking on the role of managing director, Mayer was responsible for the Caritas Black Forest-Alb-Donau region for over a decade and headed the Rems-Murr district youth group. Most recently she headed the Rudolph-Sofien-Stift gGmbH in Stuttgart. This diverse professional experience will help her to further develop the league in a targeted manner and to explore new ways to support people in need of help.

As a passionate lobbyist, Mayer sees it as her job to work on relevant social decisions and political framework conditions. She emphasizes the importance of good work, which is essential for a self-determined and satisfied life. “We have to forge new alliances to support people in precarious situations,” said Mayer. A central issue that is close to her heart is the question of distribution in social services. She is convinced that the economy and the welfare state are mutually dependent on each other and that better cooperation is necessary.

Personal insights

Interestingly, Mayer hiked through Germany during a sabbatical, during which she was particularly impressed by the nature in the Vogtland and the route from Berlin to the Spreewald. This break certainly gave her new perspectives for her work.

While we look forward to the developments under her leadership, it remains to be seen how she will lead the League of Independent Welfare in Baden-Württemberg and address the challenges in the social sector. With her determination and her experiences, she is faced with the task of setting the course for positive change.

In other news, the debate over social issues in the US is causing a lot of conversation. Former police officer Travis Vernier, who became known as the “Election Wizard,” has taken an interesting turn in his career. After being respected as a police officer in Oklahoma City and being recognized for his bravery in 2021, he is now drawn to the world of political conspiracy theories and legal disputes.

Vernier was active under the alias “Election Wizard” for over two years and gained a large following during this time. With over 900,000 followers across various platforms, he has made a name for himself by promoting election conspiracy theories and not shying away from taking a stand on controversial topics. In addition to his work as an influencer, he founded a law firm specializing in employment law and civil rights defense.

The developments surrounding personalities like Travis Vernier show the tensions that currently exist on social and political issues. Meanwhile, it remains exciting to see what impulses Manuela Mayer will provide for the League of Independent Welfare.
