Citizens' dialogue of the Greens: Your voice counts in the Rhine-Neckar district!
There are important issues coming up in the Rhein-Neckar district: On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the GREENS parliamentary group in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg is inviting people to a citizens' dialogue. The Neuer Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg opens its doors at 6:45 p.m. before the event begins at 7:30 p.m. Citizens come together here to discuss the challenges and opportunities in their region. The aim of this event is to integrate people's opinions and ideas directly into political work, as gruene-landtag-bw.de emphasizes.
With 57 representatives from all over Baden-Württemberg, this citizens' dialogue covers a wide range of opinions and perspectives. Among the participants are prominent politicians such as Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann and State Parliament President Muhterem Aras as well as the Heidelberg MP Dr. Marilena Geugjes. The topics in focus are complex and affect people's everyday lives: How do we create affordable housing? How can the organization of school and child care be improved? And how can commuting distances be shortened and bureaucracy reduced? These concerns are on the agenda to sustainably improve life in the country, adds weikmedien.de.
A space for participation
Citizen dialogue is part of a larger trend: citizen participation has become more important in recent years. Since the early 2010s, more and more people have recognized the importance of adding their voices to politics. This can be seen, among other things, in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, which is considered a pioneer when it comes to dialogic citizen participation. This was the first federal state to introduce a modern law in this area, which encourages citizens to take an active part in political processes, as reported by [ Beteiligungsportal.baden-wuerttemberg.de](https:// Beteiligungsportal.baden-wuerttemberg.de/de/informieren/modelle/dia logie-buerger participation/).
With the findings from citizen forums worldwide and the experiences from projects like Stuttgart 21, Baden-Württemberg is increasingly establishing itself as a pioneer in citizen participation. These positive experiences also make it clear how important it is that citizens can get involved and articulate their concerns. Therefore, this citizen dialogue is not just seen as an event, but as part of a sustainable process that invites you to help shape it.
Young voices welcome
For everyone who is particularly interested in young people's perspectives, a youth dialogue will take place on the same day from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Café Leitstelle in Heidelberg. Here, too, young people have the opportunity to formulate their concerns and wishes and to actively contribute to the political discussion. Participation in both dialogue events is free and does not require registration.
The GREENS cordially invite all interested citizens to take part in these discussions and thus actively contribute to the future of their region. Because only together can we succeed in mastering the challenges that affect us in the Rhine-Neckar district.
