Traditional Mäschle bakery in Laupheim closes: 50 employees affected!
In sad news for the region, the bakery Konditorei Mäschle GmbH & Co. KG from Laupheim (Biberach district, Baden-Württemberg) filed for bankruptcy on August 27, 2025. Despite efforts to maintain operations, the bakery will have to close at the beginning of November 2025 Mercury reports.
The Ravensburg District Court has appointed the lawyer Michael Wahl from the PLUTA law firm as insolvency administrator. Despite continuing operations after filing for bankruptcy, ongoing costs could not be covered. “The bakery is making losses under full cost conditions,” Wahl explained at a hearing.
fate of the employees
Unfortunately, around 50 employees at the five locations had to be informed of their terminations. On October 28, 2025, the news came out: the closure of the branches was unanimously decided by the creditors on October 27. The bakery recently had five branches - two in Laupheim, one in Schemmerhofen, one in Warthausen and one in the Eggingen district of Ulm. Despite a previous attempt at renovation, no viable solution could be found.
In September 2024, a restructuring procedure under self-administration was converted into a regular procedure, but the financial situation has not improved since then. During the first renovation, the number of branches was reduced from the original number to six.
