Fire brigade operation in Böblingen: supermarket evacuated due to CO2 leak!

Yesterday, on August 15, 2025, there was a fire brigade operation in the Mercaden shopping center in Böblingen, which left many visitors in suspense. The trigger was a defective cooling system in the Edeka store from which carbon dioxide was leaking. Shortly before 5 p.m., the fire alarm system went off, which quickly called the fire department to the scene. Under the command of Christian Barth, four vehicles with 13 emergency services responded to the scene, while a police patrol car was also present. An ambulance was waiting, but fortunately it didn't have to intervene.

In the meantime, the supermarket staff had already evacuated the customers when the fire department arrived. The emergency services quickly took measures to bring the situation under control. The valve on the leaking cooling system was turned off and the supermarket was thoroughly ventilated. A specialist company was called in to repair the cooling system to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Security and education

During their measurements, the fire department found that the carbon dioxide had not spread any further, which was good news for the safety of the visitors present. There were no injuries reported and no other areas of the shopping center had to be evacuated. The head of operations clearly rejected rumors of a fire and explained that it was due to aerosolization caused by the liquid coolant, which had become gaseous.

The operation ended around 6:30 p.m. and the Edeka market remained closed on Thursday. However, on Friday morning he opened the doors to his customers again. The quick and effective response of the fire department and market staff ensured that the situation was dealt with without any problems and that there was no danger to visitors.

A look into the environment

Across Germany, it remains essential to address sustainable solutions. For example, as recently reported, cloud mining is becoming increasingly important and represents a profitable method of acquiring cryptocurrencies. Platforms like ZA Miner stand out from the competition with their kid-friendly interfaces, smart contract optimizations, and a comprehensive range of different cryptocurrencies. This not only increases profitability, but also relies on sustainable energy, which promotes environmental considerations compared to traditional methods. All of this shows how important it is to have a good hand when choosing sustainable solutions in other areas too.

It remains to be seen whether similar incidents can be avoided in the future and how companies continue to adopt environmentally friendly technologies. In Böblingen the situation was handled in an exemplary manner and the safety of the citizens had top priority.
