Bad Dürrheim: Half a million euros for investments and savings measures!
The administrative committee met in the Bad Dürrheim town hall on Thursday to discuss important issues in the city. Mayor Jonathan Berggötz was able to report that the city's supplementary budget was approved by the municipal supervisory authority. This sets the course for future investments and savings in the city on green, which is particularly important in economically challenging times. This positive news did not come without serious discussions about austerity measures that were subsequently developed.
“The new federal government has good news for us,” said Berggötz. A recently passed law ensures that Bad Dürrheim will receive around half a million euros annually as investment subsidies over the next ten years. This could not only provide a breath of fresh air for the coffers, but also urgently needed infrastructure measures.
Saving for the future
A key point at the meeting were the local council's savings proposals, which must be presented by November 20th. The consultations on the austerity measures are scheduled for December 18th. Mayor Berggötz emphasized the need to make structural savings in order to be financially well positioned for the coming years.
However, this also means an increase in water and sewerage fees for citizens. The plan is to increase the water rate by 62 cents per cubic meter and increase the wastewater fee by 22 cents per cubic meter. However, the city of Bad Dürrheim has an advantage: There is no basic fee on the water rate, which, according to Wolfgang Kaiser (LBU), creates an incentive to save water.
Investments in waterworks
Important investments are already on the agenda for next year. The economic plan for the waterworks provides more than one million euros for renovation measures, including:
- Sanierung Hochbecken Kapfwald: 800.000 Euro
- Sanierung Quellen Schneckental: 400.000 Euro
- Förderleitung Entenfangquelle beim Wasserwerk Schabelwiesen: 900.000 Euro
- Filterbecken Luschin beim Reisemobilhafen: 1,1 Millionen Euro für Abwassermaßnahmen
City Treasurer Stefan Milles also announced the conversion of all analog water meters to digital water meters by 2027. The costs for this amount to around 700,000 euros. But this investment is not only intended to modernize the technology, but also to make it easier to check water quality and enable automatic reading.
With all of these measures, Bad Dürrheim shows that the city administration has a good knack for tackling the challenges of the future. The next meeting of the local council will show whether the council agrees on the new fees and whether the planned savings measures can come into force. It seems that Bad Dürrheim has a lot planned and the citizens' trust in positive development is being further strengthened.
