Construction site chaos in Nagoldtal: B463 with new improvements until September!
The B463 in Nagoldtal will remain the focus of road closures and construction work for quite some time. The Calw district is carrying out extensive renovation work on behalf of the Karlsruhe regional council, which will last until September. Much of the work is focused on improving the street area, with repairs to a side wall in the Dennjächt district recently completed, such as pz news reported. A welcome side effect was the removal of the traffic lights for the alternating passage, which initially provided noticeable relief.
But the work is far from complete: two retaining walls in the Monbach curve are now being renovated. Drivers must once again be prepared to drive slowly and stop. It remains to be seen whether the measures will ensure a lasting improvement in traffic flow.
Construction of the new Nagold Bridge
An important sub-project in this region is the replacement of the Nagold Bridge in Wildberg, work on which began on February 24, 2025. These renovations will be carried out with the B463 completely closed and are expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The old bridge turned out to be in need of renovation and was no longer economical, which is why demolition and new construction were unavoidable. Loud rp.baden-wuerttemberg.de The new bridge will also be built about one meter higher to prevent flooding in the event of a 100-year flood.
During the construction period, traffic will be diverted over a large area. Anyone driving from Nagold towards Calw can use the diversion via Jettingen and Sulz am Eck. In the opposite direction it goes via Neubulach and Altensteig. Within the town, the Wildberg and Edeka train stations can be reached via Talstrasse and Saronweg. Pedestrians and cyclists can also use the Hirschbrücke.
Cost estimate and technical details
The costs for the new building amount to around 6 million euros, with the majority of the financing coming from the federal government. The city of Wildberg is covering the costs of replacing the sidewalks. The new bridge will be designed as an integral concrete structure without bearings and expansion joints to ensure longevity. The span of the structure is around 40 meters and it is founded with special bored piles, as mentioned in the press release.
These projects are part of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan (BVWP) 2030, which is based on around 2,000 proposals for new construction and expansion measures. All projects were assessed for their necessity and benefits and can be accessed in detail through the PRINS project information system bvwp-projekte.de informed.
The upcoming renovation and new construction work on the B463 and the Nagold Bridge is an important step towards improving the traffic infrastructure in the Nagold Valley, even if this initially requires patience from all road users.
