A top-class sporting event recently took place in Delmenhorst near Bremen: the German Archery Championship, in which over 230 starters took part. The participants were full of enthusiasm and had impressive performances, including a strong group from the Württemberg Rifle Association. The championships were a real thriller and fans were treated to some remarkable competition.
Among the outstanding athletes was Armin Raab from SF Gechingen, who won a bronze medal in the Masters class. Raab scored 310 rings and left Peter Schott from BSV Waldaschaff behind with 309 rings. In addition, both had the same number of inside goals, namely 11, which made the decision all the more exciting. Rüdiger Schäfer from 1. FC Passau secured gold with 330 rings, followed by Michael Weber (BSV Wyhl), who took the silver medal with 315 rings.
A place on the podium
But the successes went not only to Raab, but also to his colleagues. Diana Wiesner from BSV Ulm showed a strong performance and won silver in the barebow women's class with 310 rings. Daniela Klesmann from SG Bemflingen also shone and won bronze in the women's class with 328 rings, which was shot with an Olympic recurve bow. Beate Brigant from SF Gechingen came in 12th place in the women's division with 242 rings.
The championship not only provided a framework for top sporting achievements, but was also a showcase for the enthusiasm and solidarity of the archers. The exchange between the athletes and the support of the fans made the event an unforgettable experience.
