New mill square in Dörlinbach: A celebration of the 800th anniversary!

A truly contemplative celebration was recently celebrated in the idyllic Dörlinbach! The ceremonial inauguration of the new mill square took place as part of the celebrations for the town's 800th anniversary. Not only was the history of Dörlinbach celebrated, but a nice meeting place for young and old was also created. The Schwarzwälder Bote reports that This square, which was created with the active help of the community, the building yard and committed citizens, now offers seating, play opportunities and space for encounters.

A real gem, the new square was designed with old sandstone millstones, which not only add functionality but also a certain historical touch. A sandstone with the logo of the anniversary celebration and an attractively designed fountain complete the picture. On the occasion of the inauguration, Mayor Matthias Litterst showed his appreciation and thanked the team around building site manager Dominik Schätzle as well as entrepreneur Pascal Schätzle and stonemason Stefan Busch for their commitment.

A celebration of community and culture

The inauguration was accompanied by a solemn program that opened with an official blessing from Father Thomas. The village community came together to celebrate with sausages, refreshments, music and fresh donation-based waffles. Julia Zehnle, the mayor's deputy, brought the event to a grand finale when she cut the ribbon and then played the milestone whistle with the band. This friendly band looks back on a proud 25 years and has developed from a former youth group. As a special sign of their support for Mühlenplatz, the band donated a tree and a sign with an inspiring saying.

Julia Zehnle is known in Dörlinbach as a very active personality and has already organized a variety of events as part of the anniversary. A highlight in this context will be the graffiti workshop for young people, which is scheduled to take place on July 19th.

800 years of Dörlinbach – a reason to celebrate

Dörlinbach can look back on an eventful history, which can be proven by the first mention of the place in a papal bull in 1225. This year is considered the foundation stone for the coming 800th anniversary, which will be celebrated for a whole year, including a big festival weekend at Pentecost 2025. Schwarzwald Aktuell informs that The festival weekend from Saturday, the traditional tapping of the barrel at 6 p.m., to Monday features numerous activities and musicians from near and far.

There will be a colorful children's program everywhere in Dörlinbach, including mini discos, dance performances and creative hands-on activities. A nostalgic “Mopedli tour” on Whit Monday is also on the program, which is sure to make many hearts beat faster. These celebrations are intended not only to keep history alive, but also to mobilize the village community.

The history of Dörlinbach, which lost its independence in 1974 and became part of the municipality of Schuttertal, is quite exciting. On the internet platform doerlinbach800.de It is even pointed out that Dörlinbach could be older than the neighboring town of Schweighausen, which celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2019. The next big celebration will take place in 2032, when Dörlinbach turns 900 years old. But until then there is still a lot to experience and celebrate!
