New nursing home in Schwenningen: A trendsetter for seniors!

Something is happening in Schwenningen: A new nursing home project from Topsicht GmbH was recently discussed in the city's design advisory board. Mayor Detlev Bührer gave the Technical Committee an overview of the progress of the project, which is planned on the site of the former “Schönblick Children's Recreation Home”. The building, which opened in 1929, has had many faces and was most recently used for police operational training. A modern nursing home is now to be built here.

The existing building is expected to be demolished to make room for a 4.5-story nursing home. Not only six residential groups with a total of 77 care places are planned, but also seven penthouse apartments. These special living options are intended for seniors who can book additional care services if necessary. Bührer further reported that a café on the roof terrace and a sensory garden for residents and visitors will also be set up on the 4,210 square meter property.

Wheelchair accessible and modern

The entire complex will be designed to be wheelchair accessible so that all future residents can live without obstacles. In addition, twelve underground parking spaces and ten outdoor parking spaces are planned to make everyday life for users as pleasant as possible. “Something is being created here that is also very popular in the region,” says Bührer, who is optimistic about the future.

Particular attention is paid to interior design and creating a living space that is both functional and inviting. An important aspect of this planning is the adaptation to the existing “Reute-Süd” development plan from 1980, which envisages a three-story building. However, this concept does not meet modern requirements and has therefore been revised. The committee unanimously approved the preparation of an amended development plan in order to advance the realization of the project.

A step into the future

The building permit for the new nursing home is expected in the first quarter of 2026. The city can already look forward to the positive effects such a project will have on the community. The new care facilities offer space for assisted living as well as comprehensive care services that are perfectly tailored to the needs of the older generation.

At a time when the need for care places is increasing, it is essential that such projects are implemented. The new nursing home in Schwenningen will not only be a safe place for seniors, but will also make a valuable contribution to the quality of life in the region.

With this redesign, the nursing home project will not only change the view of the city, but also significantly improve the quality of life of seniors. Now all that remains is to wait until the first excavators roll in and the new chapter for Schwenningen begins.
