Pforzheim and Enzkreis present a checklist for barrier-free events!
Nowadays it is more important than ever to make events accessible to everyone. Against this background, the city of Pforzheim and the Enzkreis have published a free brochure entitled “Events for Everyone – Checklist for Barrier-Free Events”. This practical checklist supports organizers in planning and implementing barrier-free events and is available both as a print version and online at www.stadt-land-enz.de downloadable.
The checklist offers valuable tips on various aspects that are crucial for accessibility. This includes, among other things, the creation of barrier-free access, the provision of suitable sanitary facilities, the use of understandable language and the design of barrier-free signage. The goal here is clear: organizers from private individuals, clubs, non-profit institutions, municipalities and companies should be encouraged to reach new target groups and promote participation for everyone.
Important information for organizers
Mohamed Zakzak, the inclusion officer for the city of Pforzheim, emphasizes that accessibility is a key factor in expanding target groups. In the same breath, Anne Marie Rouvière-Petruzzi, the Enzkreis representative for people with disabilities, points out the importance of information for people with disabilities. Deaf people in particular rely on information about sign language interpretation in order to be able to actively participate in events.
The brochure also has a practical aspect: accessibility pictograms, which were developed in collaboration with self-help associations, are also available to download free of charge. These pictograms can be used in invitations to indicate the accessibility of the event.
Additional materials and tips
For larger events with up to 150 participants, we recommend a guide from the Ebersberg district, which contains a detailed checklist and particularly addresses the requirements of stage-oriented events. The German Statutory Accident Insurance (DGUV) has also created an information brochure that is aimed at a wide range of events and offers valuable information on the subject of accessibility in reception and service areas.
- Bundesfachstelle Barrierefreiheit: Checkliste für barrierefreie Veranstaltungen
- Leitfaden des Landkreises Ebersberg: Planung und Durchführung von barrierefreien Veranstaltungen
- DGUV: Gestaltung barrierefreier Tagungen und Seminare
