Baden-Württemberg shines: five restaurants receive a Green Michelin star!
On June 17, 2025, the coveted Michelin stars for Germany's gastronomic landscape were awarded. And with great cheers! A total of 341 restaurants received an award, with an increasing focus on sustainability. The Green Michelin Star has been awarded since 2020, honoring companies that operate in a particularly sustainable and environmentally conscious manner. This year there are some exciting new additions to the list of award-winning restaurants.
Particularly noteworthy are the new holders of the Green Michelin Star in Baden-Württemberg. Several impressive restaurants received awards here:
The new star kitchens in Baden-Württemberg
- „Goldene Sonne“ in Neuenstein
- „Gasthaus Schwanen“ in Stühlingen
How Mercury reports, the trend towards plant-based cuisine and regionality continues to be of central importance in German gastronomy.
Developments in the German restaurant industry
There are now a total of 12 restaurants in Germany with three stars, two of which have been added to the list: “Haerlin” in Hamburg and “Tohru in der Schreiberei” in Munich. This year was notable as the last time new 3-star restaurants were added was in 2008. The MICHELIN Guide is not only a restaurant guide, but also a pioneer for sustainable eating habits in the catering industry.
The distribution of the stars is impressive: The day ticket reports that 80 Green Stars were awarded, 14 of which are new. Bib Gourmand awards also increased, with 15 new establishments, bringing Germany's total to 156 Bib Gourmand restaurants.
Another highlight is the presentation of special awards that highlight the performance and creativity of the chefs and service staff. Daniela Oos received the Service Award, while Luis Hendricks took home the Young Chef Award. Such awards show that German gastronomy operates at a very high level and is constantly developing in terms of both quality and innovation.
The MICHELIN Guide has transformed over the years from a travel guide to a leading restaurant guide, playing an ever-increasing role in the gastronomic scene. It remains exciting to see where the journey in Germany's culinary landscape will go, and hungry guests can certainly look forward to many new, delicious discoveries!
