Clothes market in Weil am Rhein: fashion magic and multicultural flair!

Last Saturday the popular women's clothing market took place in the Kesselhaus area in Weil am Rhein. An event that not only attracts women from the area, but also numerous visitors, some of whom travel from far away to browse the unique stands. The cultural flair of the market attracts many who are looking for special clothing items. This also included Selina Braun (28) and her sister Vanessa (24), who had their own stand for the first time.

“We offer everything from dungarees to plush coats to handbags,” says Braun. She doesn't shy away from incorporating older pieces from the early 2000s into her selection in order to make the market attractive for all tastes. Another highlight: The prices are negotiable – something that visitors particularly appreciate. Doris Reiß (63), a long-time market visitor, is enthusiastic about the multicultural atmosphere and got hold of an olive green corduroy jacket from the colorful selection.

A place of encounters

Regular visitors, like Nilufar Hamidi (57), SPD city councilor, are not only happy about the great offers, but also about the opportunity to meet up with friends for coffee. Hamidi is particularly interested in accessories and takes the opportunity to enjoy the diversity of the market. Both the organizers Antje Lauber (61) and Elisa Tanneberg-Passlick (39) as well as the stand operators are satisfied with the response to the event.

The women's clothing market has a long tradition and has been running for around 25 years. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, the women have the opportunity to offer their treasures. The demand for stand space is high among both sellers and buyers, and interested parties often have to be turned away.

A look into the future

Due to some organizational challenges, the women's clothing market will not take place this fall, as noted on the Kesselhaus site's website. But there is light at the end of the tunnel: a resumption is planned for spring 2023. The next registration options will be announced in February and the implementation of the market depends heavily on the development of the corona pandemic.

The general conditions for the months after have already been set: There will be places both inside the boiler house and outside, with tables provided inside, but clothes racks must be brought by the saleswomen themselves. If it rains, you have the option of setting up a café in the passage in front of the Kesselhaus. If you have any questions about registration or market organization, potential sellers can contact the email address provided.

In summary, the women's clothing market remains an important part of the community in Weil am Rhein, where women can not only live out their love of fashion, but also meet and exchange ideas. “There’s something going on” – we’re all the more excited about the next edition of the event!
