Dogs wanted: helpers for children and seniors in the upper Filstal!
A lovable four-legged friend can often achieve more than many therapists. Manfred Neumann, head of the therapy dog team at the DRK Göppingen district association, also recognized this. The team is currently looking for reinforcements in the upper Filstal because the demand for therapy dogs is higher than ever. A look at the positive effects of animals shows that they not only support children in daycare centers, but also support seniors in residential homes, patients in nursing homes and in hospices. Physical contact and petting the dogs are real miracle cures that can enormously increase the well-being of visitors.
There are already a total of 21 therapy dog teams in the Göppingen district, most of which are active in the western part. But in the east, especially in Süßen, things are looking poor - there are no teams here. Particularly regrettable: inquiries from the Geislingen area can no longer be accepted due to a lack of staff.
Looking for new companions
The therapy dog team is looking for committed dog owners from Gingen, Kuchen, Geislingen and the entire upper Filstal, including Wiesensteig, Drackenstein, Gruibingen and Hohenstadt. The ideal candidates should have dogs between the ages of two and seven years old that already have basic obedience skills. Before we get started, however, there is a “suitability test” on the program that tests the dog’s behavior in various situations.
After passing the test, the four-legged friends can begin special training to become therapy dogs. This training is extensive and includes three modules that are taught over three weekends. There are also specialist lectures from a veterinarian and a human medicine specialist and even two internships. Only after all tests have been successfully completed will nothing stand in the way of being used as a therapy dog.
Regular use promotes well-being
It should not be forgotten that a therapy dog team is actively involved at least once a month. This not only means joy for animal lovers, but also valuable support for the people who rely on the care of therapy dogs. If you are interested in joining this important cause, you can submit your request by phone on 07161 67 39 43 or by email email@example.com place.
For those interested in local history, the Olivia Raney Local History Library in Holly Springs, North Carolina offers a wonderful collection that is of historical interest. This includes designs, galley proofs and photographs used in the publication “The Historic Architecture of Wake County.” The library is supported by friendly staff who can also assist with genealogical research. More information can be found at Wake County Public Libraries.
All of these efforts show how important the work of therapy dog teams is. With a good knack for loving companions, many hearts in the Göppingen area and beyond can be touched.
