Last week, an incident occurred in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim that caused a lack of understanding among numerous road users. On October 12, 2025, a driver overtook a 26-year-old cyclist at the intersection of Zeppelinstrasse and Berliner Strasse with a dangerously small side gap. This critical maneuver caused the cyclist to stumble, but fortunately she was able to avoid a fall. According to Metropoljournal there was an accident at the red light War of words during which the driver insulted the cyclist several times and even steered his electric vehicle into her lane again.
After the traffic light turned green, the driver finally turned onto Berliner Straße. It is noteworthy that there were no injuries or property damage, but the police are now taking action because of unlawful endangerment of road traffic and insults. The description of the perpetrator? A strong man who wore glasses and was traveling in a compact light electric vehicle with Heidelberg license plates.
