The new Bundesliga season has really picked up speed! On the first matchday of the 2025/26 season, Bayern Munich really shook up the competition with an impressive 6-0 win against RB Leipzig. The focus was particularly on Harry Kane, who not only scored the first hat trick of the new season, but also recorded his fifth and sixth goal participation of the season. This means that Bayern have won 10 of the last 14 Bundesliga away games against Augsburg and are therefore optimistic going into the next round, in which they have to play against FC Augsburg next weekend. But what is the news outside of Bayern? Eintracht Frankfurt, this year's Champions League participant, has an away game in Hoffenheim ahead of them. Hoffenheim, on the other hand, started the season strongly by winning their first game against Leverkusen 2-1. Frankfurt will be under pressure as Hoffenheim have only won 2 of their last 16 games against Eintracht - a record that will certainly boost motivation.
An exciting DFB Cup duel
In the first round of the DFB Cup, Bayern Munich was able to achieve a 3-2 victory despite strong resistance from Wehen Wiesbaden. Harry Kane was once again the key to success after converting a 16th-minute penalty and scoring the late winner in stoppage time. He was extremely pleasant in front of goal: after Kane's first goal, Olise increased the score to 2-0, before Wiesbaden equalized with two goals from Kaya. But in this extremely exciting game, Kane kept his nerve and scored the decisive goal with a header shortly before the end. Bundesliga.
Bayern have now won 30 games in the first round in their DFB Cup history and have been waiting for a return past the quarter-finals since the 2019/20 season.
