In Heilbronn, the city center shows its most beautiful side at Christmas time. The Käthchen Christmas market, which opened on November 25th, transforms the city into a magical market landscape. Until today, December 22nd, visitors can immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Around 65 lovingly designed wooden houses are lined up on the market square and Kiliansplatz and invite you to feast and browse. Here you can find everything from handmade works of art to delicious culinary delicacies that will make your heart beat faster. In addition to this offer, the activities under the motto “Heilbronn Christmas” provide an additional festive atmosphere - from lights and music events to a winter cinema that exudes real joy of experience. A particularly nice idea is the “Heilbronn Christmas Greetings”, where handwritten cards can be sent free of charge in participating cafés.
A colorful supporting program for young and old
Preparations for the Christmas market have been going on for a long time, and this year too the program has been a success. Musical performances on the market square can be enjoyed from Tuesday to Sunday. Highlights include the stories that Käthchen von Heilbronn reads on Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m. A special experience are the Christmas Beats in the alpine hut and the barn, which create a great atmosphere on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 p.m.
Not only Santa Claus is expected on December 6th, but also the mountain parade with Südwestdeutsche Salzwerke AG, another highlight in the Christmas program. Singing together under the motto “Heilbronn sings” on December 20th at 7 p.m. is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the community spirit.
Arrival and special offers
There are numerous options for traveling to the city center. Visitors can easily travel by public transport and enjoy the walk from the main train station. Light rail and regional buses are also available. If you want to stretch your legs, you can use the Christmas tourist train, which runs from the most important stops in the city center for a low price of just 1 euro per person.
Don't forget the colorful variety of offers for the whole family: The artificial ice rink in the town hall courtyard invites you to ice skating and curling - booking is possible online. And for those who like it warmer, the barn and the alpine hut have extended opening hours: Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m.
