Rapid tuning check: Police uncover numerous violations!
Last Sunday, a comprehensive tuning check took place on Neckartalstrasse in Heilbronn as part of the “Frightnight” meeting. The police decided to take this measure to increase road safety and punish potential violations. Around 100 vehicles were examined during this inspection. With shocking results: 28 cars had serious defects, which is why their operating license expired. At the same time, ten vehicles were classified as unsafe for traffic and were not allowed to continue driving, as fnweb reports.
The inspection revealed not only technical defects, but also significant driving license violations. One driver was caught without a valid license and insurance, while another was behind the wheel under the influence of drugs. A third driver had a breath alcohol level of 0.6 per mille and reacted positively to a preliminary drug test. A particularly bold finding concerned a forged general inspection sticker, which led to a report for forgery of documents.
Dangerous escape
The situation escalated when a 53-year-old BMW driver collided with another vehicle in the Europaplatz area of Bad Friedrichshall and then fled the scene. On the way to the checkpoint he drove over a pylon and thereby questioned the safety of the police officers. Thanks to quick action, the driver was stopped a short time later and temporarily arrested. The breath alcohol test showed just under two per thousand, and the investigation is ongoing.
These incidents shed light on road safety, particularly with regard to the use of drugs and alcohol behind the wheel. According to bussgeldkatalog, the influence of alcohol was a cause in 4.4% of all accidents with personal injury in 2017. It should be noted that one in 14 traffic fatalities occurred in an alcohol-related accident. Drug-related accidents are also taking on worrying proportions, as statistics show: in 2016, around 32,400 people had to give up their driver's license due to drug use.
Drugs in traffic
The legal consequences should not be underestimated. People who drive under the influence of illegal drugs such as cannabis, heroin or cocaine are committing a misdemeanor. As polizei-beratung explains, the penalties can range from fines of 500 to 1,500 euros to a driving ban of 1 to 3 months. Drug-related driving errors or endangering others can even result in prison sentences.
Overall, the tuning inspection in Heilbronn shows once again that road safety has a high priority and that the police are taking decisive action against violations. After all, responsible use of vehicles, alcohol and drugs is of great importance for all road users.
