Listening fair in Karlsruhe: New technology for a better quality of life!

On Friday, November 7th, 2025, the eagerly awaited iffland.hören hearing fair will take place at the IHK Haus der Wirtschaft in Karlsruhe. From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., people with hearing impairments have the opportunity to find out comprehensive information about state-of-the-art hearing systems and their positive effects on quality of life. The event is aimed at the over 10 percent of German citizens who are affected by hearing problems and offers numerous activities and personal advice.

The event has the clear goal of improving hearing and giving those affected new impulses. More and more people are using technology-enabled solutions, which are often small and almost invisible. Advanced functions such as AI-supported gain control, noise suppression and speech recognition are the focus. Connection to various devices such as televisions, telephones or MP3 players is now standard. Numerous international manufacturers present their products so that every visitor can find the right system.

Expertise and products in focus

In addition to the product presentation, there is a comprehensive lecture program that deals with the development of hearing aids and medical basics. Topics ranging from device settings to innovative cochlear implants are covered. The organizers not only want to provide information, but also show ways in which those affected can improve their hearing situation.

A special highlight is the “ihabs” fitting and advice system from iffland.hören, which enables individual selection and advice. In addition, visitors can use special vouchers worth 50 euros when purchasing a hearing aid, which are only given out during the trade fair.

Understanding hearing loss

It is important to understand that hearing problems often have a variety of causes. On the one hand, conductive hearing loss can occur when sound in the outer ear or middle ear is not transmitted correctly to the inner ear. This type of hearing loss is usually temporary and can often be easily treated. In contrast, sensorineural hearing loss, which occurs due to damage to the inner ear, is often permanent and represents a greater challenge. However, both conventional hearing aids and cochlear implants can provide valuable support in many cases, as the Dresden University Hospital reports. (uniklinikum-dresden.de)

The hearing fair will therefore not only be a place for exchange, but also a platform to provide information about treatment options and new technologies. The aim is for those affected to not only get to know the latest devices, but also to develop a better understanding of their hearing disorders.
