Karlsruhe plays and celebrates: these highlights await you in September!
This week in Karlsruhe will be exciting! From September 8th to 14th, 2025, there are numerous events on the program that offer something for every taste. No matter whether you are a family person or a flea market fan - you are guaranteed not to get bored here. One of the big highlights is the annual one Karlsruhe public utilities holiday party, which will take place on September 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The holiday festival transforms the municipal utility premises on Ahaweg into a colorful play and adventure park for children and their families. There is a lot on offer: a make-up campaign, a diverse program on the show stage, hands-on activities and a puppet theater with the environmental puppet are on the agenda. The little visitors can also look forward to the Käpsele test, where there are great prizes to be won. The proceeds from the sale of food and drinks go to the Karlsruhe association “Children’s Benefit Support” (KiBu e.V.). If you want to travel in an environmentally conscious way, you can travel free of charge using the Schlossgarten-Bähnle, bicycle or public transport. There are also sufficient parking spaces for bicycles available.
Flea markets and festivals
On the same day, September 13th, the Messplatz will be the venue for one of the largest flea markets in Karlsruhe. If you are looking for bargains, you should not miss this event. In addition, in the immediate area there is the Durlacher Kruschtlmark in front of the Karlsburg, which will also take place on the same day. And for those who prefer something more festive: the traditional Kerwe is celebrated in Hagsfeld and Mühlburg - fun is guaranteed!
Show environmental awareness
Another important event is this Rhine Clean Up, an environmental campaign to clean the Rhine and its Old Rhine branches, which also takes place on September 13th. In several German cities, including Karlsruhe, many people are showing their commitment to environmental protection.
The week is rounded off with...Open Monument Dayon September 14th. Here, interested citizens can view around 60 monuments in Karlsruhe and take part in guided tours of historical places.
