Rintheimer Querallee: Traffic will be closed for weeks from September 8th!

The city of Karlsruhe is currently facing major challenges in the area of transport infrastructure. As the city administration announced on August 18th, several extensive construction works are now taking place on Rintheimer Querallee. These should not only renew the road surface, but also renovate the sidewalks and cycle paths. The reason for these measures is the poor condition of the surface and the desire to increase traffic safety. The section between Theodor-Heuss-Allee and Hagsfelder Allee is affected by the work.

In the first construction phase, which was carried out until September 5th, the southern lane was already closed and traffic towards Rintheim was rerouted via Adenauerring, Karl-Wilhelm-Straße and Haid-und-Neu-Straße. However, pedestrians and cyclists were able to pass through the construction site via a temporary path. Things really started on September 8th: Rintheimer Querallee will be completely closed in both directions for around four weeks. The diversion routes for traffic from Hagsfeld and Rintheim remain in place, although access to the technology park from the direction of Haid-und-Neu-Straße is also ensured.

Extensive renovation work

The city's civil engineering department is planning to renovate the road surface and completely redesign the sidewalks and cycle paths. These measures are urgently needed because the surface is in a severely damaged condition. In addition to the renovation of the cycle path between Büchiger Allee and Hagsfelder Allee, the northern sidewalk will be kept clear for pedestrians, while cyclists will have to move onto the road. The complete completion of the construction project is weather-dependent and should take place by October 10, 2025.

The civil engineering department asks the population for their understanding of the inconveniences associated with the construction work. It is hoped that the restrictions will soon be replaced by significantly improved traffic conditions.

Further transport projects in Karlsruhe

In parallel to the work on Rintheimer Querallee, there are also other renovation projects in the city. For example, work will begin on May 26, 2025 in the Karlstrasse/Amalienstrasse/Waldstrasse intersection area, also with the aim of making the pedestrian crossing paths barrier-free. These measures are expected to last until the end of July and include, among other things, the renewal of the traffic signals and the street lighting, which will be converted to modern, energy-efficient LED technology.

Stadtwerke Karlsruhe appeals to citizens to regularly inform themselves about current road construction measures and possible diversions in the mobility portal mobil.trk.de to inform. This way everyone stays up to date and can plan diversions better.
