Biosphere Festival in Zell: Over 3000 visitors celebrate nature!

In bright sunshine, the biosphere festival took place in Zell in the Wiesental on Sunday, and the number of visitors was impressive: over 3000 guests flocked to the stands and attractions. The occasion was the celebration of the 750th anniversary of the city, which was duly appreciated in different ways. RP reports more than 30 exhibitors presented and varied hands -on activities for young and old.

As part of the UNESCO Biosphere area Black Forest, the festival was ceremoniously opened by District President Carsten Gabbert, District Administrator Marion Dammann and Mayor Peter Palme. The topics of the festival meanwhile revolved around future -oriented pasture water supply and the networking of regional companies. The culinary offer of the region should also be promoted with gastronomic action weeks.

The Biosphere area Black Forest is an important gateway to the natural diversity in this regard. With an area of around 630 square kilometers and 28 municipalities as well as the city of Freiburg, it represents an impressive biological and cultural diversity. As the 16th biosphere reserve in Germany, it was recognized in 2017 and contributes to obtaining endangered cattle breeds such as the hind forests, which are important for landscape maintenance. UNESCO emphasizes that the area includes numerous valuable habitats, such as beech forests and natural waters.

Zell in the Wiesental, as a community with the highest density of biosphere partner companies, is actively involved in the preservation of these cultural landscapes and the creation of new future opportunities for the rural region. Mayor Peter Palme emphasized the historical importance of his hometown in the context of the celebrations.

For younger visitors there was a wide range of hands -on activities. Children were able to identify animal tracks while tinkering, or demonstrate their creative skills while sawing. In addition, regional products were offered in the form of goat cheese, sausage, alpaca tissue and herbal products that made the culinary heart beat faster. The stage program also had a lot to offer: music of local artists and informative talks on topics such as water supply and the role of textile production attracted the attention of the guests.

The biosphere festival has now fought for a permanent place in the event calendar and takes place annually in a special community of the biosphere area. Last year Freiburg was the venue; The next location will be determined in autumn. A profit not only for the local population, but also for all visitors who want to experience the beauty and diversity of the Black Forest.
