There is good news for all e-bike fans in Ludwigsburg! On September 25, 2025, the city set up a new e-bike charging station, located on the corner of Lindenstrasse and Kirchstrasse. This practical charging option comes at exactly the right time, as around 60% of the city's bicycles are now electrically powered. The station is equipped with two special connections for common batteries and a conventional socket, which makes it particularly easy to use. Ludwigsburg.de reports on the pleasing implementation of this charging station, which was realized in close collaboration with the Technical Services Ludwigsburg (TDL).

The costs for implementing the station remained almost neutral thanks to an existing power connection and additional project funding. Mayor Sebastian Mannl emphasizes the importance of this measure because it contributes to improving cycling conditions in Ludwigsburg. The aim is to offer e-bike users an uncomplicated charging option in the city. Additional charging points will also be available at other locations, such as the town hall and the Hoheneck outdoor swimming pool. In the near future, the offering could be further expanded with the opening of the new RadStation Schiller.

A step towards promoting sustainability

The new free charging stations for e-bikes are not only practical, but also an important step towards environmentally friendly mobility. Mayor Sebastian Mannl sees the offer as part of a larger initiative to promote sustainable transport in Ludwigsburg. The electricity for charging is also provided free of charge by Stadtwerke Ludwigsburg-Kornwestheim (SWLB), which makes it even more attractive to use. The first charging station opened its doors at the Hoheneck outdoor swimming pool in summer 2023, and according to Christian Schneider, Managing Director of SWLB, further charging stations are already being planned at other locations, such as leisure facilities.
