Heroic on two wheels: 75-year-old conquers 267 km to Teublitz!
Who says you have to be young for great adventures? Artur Rinklin, 75 years old and from Großeicholzheim, impressively demonstrated on Corpus Christi, June 26, 2025, that the opposite is the case. With his Pedelec he set off on a 267 km long bike tour that took him from Großeicholzheim to Teublitz, near Burglengenfeld.
The route was a varied mix of picturesque places: Rinklin passed Krautheim, Schrozberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Ansbach before continuing to Roth, Allersberg, Freystadt, Parsberg, Hohenfels and Kallmünz, finally reaching his destination at a campsite in Teublitz/Kunstdorf. It started at 5 a.m., and the dry and sunny weather conditions, with temperatures between 12 and 31 degrees, made the ride even more enjoyable. Thanks to the holiday, traffic on the roads was pleasantly light, which made his journey easier.
Breaks and preparation
During the tour, Rinklin took a total of four breaks to recharge his batteries and consume snacks and drinks. His friend Max Stoll had provided a service car that was accessible during the tour, a smart move that provided additional security.
After an impressive 11 hours and 11 minutes, Rinklin finally reached the campsite, where friends greeted him with cheers. He noted that if time had permitted, he could have continued for another 50 kilometers. This achievement for a 75-year-old is truly remarkable and shows that cycling is a wonderful way to stay active and explore new places even as you get older.
An inspiration for seniors
Cycling is not just a sport for boys. More and more seniors are discovering the joy of cycling, be it as part of a well-organized group trip or as an individual adventure, as Rinklin impressively demonstrates. Guided cycling tours, especially for older people, offer a great way to enjoy culture and nature without becoming overexerted. There are numerous breathtaking routes available that hardly require top sporting performance but offer enjoyment and relaxation.
A look at cycling holiday offers shows that tours through beautiful landscapes and cultural highlights are ideal. The routes are often easy, with plenty of opportunities for breaks. For seniors, for example, it is recommended to use e-bikes, which can easily cover longer distances and make pedaling easier, which fits in well with Rinklin's approach. Information about guided cycling tours can be found at Natours.
For everyone who loves cycling and is looking for new adventures, for example in Berlin or Potsdam, there is also the option of booking guided bike tours. These are perfect for families, couples and seniors who want to easily discover urban sights by bike. Providers such as Bicycle Tour Berlin offer a variety of rental bikes and exciting city tours.
Artur Rinklin is a shining example of the fact that it is never too late to break new ground - no matter how long the journey may take. May his adventure encourage others to also pedal and experience nature. The journey is the destination, they say, and the joy of cycling knows no age.
