Unstable summer weather: thunderstorms and rain over Baden-Württemberg!
Summer in Baden-Württemberg is currently showing its moody side. How rnz.de reported, the weather remains unstable. From the mountains to the Rhineland, citizens can prepare for clouds, showers and even thunderstorms. An increased risk of thunderstorms is expected, especially from late morning onwards, with temperatures in the mountains can be up to 22 degrees and in the Rhineland even up to 28 degrees.
The German Weather Service (DWD) has analyzed the weather situation in detail and informed that a low called HORST over the British Isles is causing the moist air that is flowing into Baden-Württemberg. Stormy gusts and heavy rain must be expected. The current forecast promises that the sky will clear up on Tuesday evening, but the rain will start again on Wednesday morning, accompanied by further showers and local thunderstorms, especially in the mountainous areas.
Forecast for the coming days
If we look at the weather forecast for the next few days, we can see that the unsettled weather will continue for the time being. A current update from the DWD describes that thunderstorms with gusts of up to 80 km/h are expected on Wednesday between Odenwald, Ostalb, Tauber and Black Forest. Especially in the mountains, gusts could even reach up to 70 km/h, while peaks of 80 km/h are possible on the Feldberg. Even small hail cannot be ruled out, which could increase the uncomfortable situation for many everyday activities.
On Thursday it will remain cloudy, with isolated showers in the south of the state. The maximum values range between 20 degrees on the West Alb and 27 degrees on the Rhine. This is ensured by a weak westerly wind that brings fresh gusts. A little light at the end of the tunnel is expected for Friday: It will be much friendlier, with lots of sunshine and temperatures of up to 30 degrees in Kraichgau. A small ray of hope in the currently wet and thundery weather situation.
Climate change and its effects
The weather situation in Baden-Württemberg is not only a product of the current weather systems, but also a reflection of long-term climatic changes. Like that Federal Environment Agency explains, climate change is reflected in increased climate fluctuations and more frequent extreme weather events. These include not only the current thunderstorms, but also droughts and flood events that could soon become normal in everyday life.
An analysis of Germany's vulnerability by 16 federal authorities has shown an urgent need for action. Issues such as heat stress and water shortages are on the agenda, as are the economic damage caused by heavy rain and flash floods. It is therefore particularly important for citizens to be aware of these developments and to take appropriate precautions to prepare for future extreme weather events.
Overall, it remains to be seen how the weather will develop over the next few days. The outlook not only promises numerous showers, but also a well-founded look at the causes behind our weather - and its changes. Stay tuned!
