Colorful and full of blue lights: the parade delights Waldstetten!
Visitors experienced a fireworks display of colors, sounds and emotions at the parade District Fire Department Day in Waldstetten. On July 13, 2025, hundreds of firefighters from across the Ostalbkreis gathered for the highlight of the festival. The motto “… and move Waldstetten forward!” was a common thread throughout the happy procession.
The streets were lined with enthusiastic spectators who listened to the band providing the appropriate entertainment with their marches and brass music. Among those proudly displaying their flags were the active members of the many fire departments who marched through the streets in colorful uniforms, often with smiles on their faces and hands raised in salute.
Historical highlights and modern contributions
The vintage fire engines, which were admired by the audience, were particularly eye-catching. The spectacle was complemented by a historic sprayer pulled by a Deutz tractor - a real highlight! TSG Waldstetten also brought nostalgic outfits that thrilled the audience.
Not only did fire brigade history come to life, the local community also became active. The country women were there with delicious food for the children and handed out sweets and refreshments. Young gymnasts were able to showcase their skills in acrobatics and handstands, while dog handlers proudly showed off their well-trained four-legged friends.
Another highlight was the performance of the Liederkranz Waldstetten, which contributed to the musical accompaniment. As a crowning finale, the Waldstetter Wäschgölten group accompanied the celebrations, which brought the parade to a ceremonial end.
A broad-based celebration
But that was just the beginning: in the context of District fire brigade festival, which will take place in Göggingen from July 19th to 22nd, the entire Ostalbkreis will be on its feet. As part of the 150th anniversary of the Göggingen fire department, around 3,500 active firefighters, youth fire departments and senior departments are expected.
The festival opens with a tapping of a keg by the mayor, followed by a diverse program that includes both professional exchange and entertaining events. Highlights are the performance brace test for the youth fire department and a big children's party on Monday.
As a special offer, there will be a bus shuttle for surrounding communities so that everyone has the opportunity to take part in this big festival. Information about this can be found on the Göggingen website.
During this time, not only the community of firefighters, but also the entire Ostalbkreis region is brought together and celebrated. An exciting experience for everyone involved and a sign of appreciation for the often tireless work of the fire department.
The history of the fire department and its contribution to society have always aroused great interest, no matter what Frank Worner, head of the fire protection and fire brigade history department, emphasizes. He and many others care about promoting and managing fire safety history and continue to work on this important topic in various committees.
