The anticipation of the most contemplative time of the year is increasing in Schwäbisch Gmünd! From November 27th to December 21st, 2025, the city center will be transformed into a festive Christmas village. The Christmas market promises numerous attractions for young and old. Robert Frank, the organizer of Touristik & Marketing GmbH (T&M), announced that construction is already in full swing in order to offer visitors an unforgettable experience.
Around 80 festively decorated stands will be set up on the market square and Johannisplatz, offering Christmas goods and delicious treats. From regional handicrafts to savory and sweet delicacies, there is everything your heart desires. In addition, the Gmünder Advent calendar will be installed at the town hall, offering chances to win every day.
Family friendly program
There are some very special attractions for little visitors: a train that runs around the magnificently decorated Christmas tree, as well as a live nativity scene with donkeys and sheep that make children's eyes light up. A Christmas Ferris wheel and a fairytale carousel round off the offering and ensure that the family can collect the best memories together.
In addition to the traditional market stalls, the Staufersaga association's medieval market on the Lower Market Square offers an exciting journey into the past. There you can watch the crafts of the old days and enjoy the atmosphere of a historic market.
Light magic and opening times
The light installation on the Johannisturm will also be spectacular, with changing colors creating an atmospheric backdrop. The opening times of the Christmas market are from Monday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., although visitors can stay until 9 p.m. on Sundays to Wednesdays and even until 10 p.m. from Thursdays to Saturdays.
