Construction work on the Enztalbahn: S6 between Pforzheim and Bad Wildbad closed!

There will soon be disruptions to rail traffic in the Baden-Württemberg region. The Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) announced in a press release on October 16, 2025 that extensive renovation measures will be carried out on the Enztalbahn from October 25 to November 3, 2025. This work is necessary to improve the infrastructure and increase operational safety, as this concerns the important section of the route between Pforzheim main station and Bad Wildbad Kurpark.

During the construction work, the S6 light rail line will be completely closed. On the affected days - starting on Saturday, October 25th at 1:15 a.m. and ending on Monday, November 3rd at 4:30 a.m. - there will be no regular rail services available to passengers. In order to still ensure mobility, a rail replacement service (SEV) will be set up that runs from Pforzheim to Bad Wildbad. Some stops such as Brötzingen Sandweg, Brötzingen Wohnlichstraße, Rotenbach and Bad Wildbad Kurpark cannot be served during the SEV phase.

Extensive renovation work

The planned measures include a thorough track renewal in several sections, the conversion of track sections and the renewal of the Rotenbach level crossing. Renewing asphalt at the level crossing is also on the list. For the safety of rail passengers, clearing work and clearing work on rock faces between Birkenfeld and Neuenbürg and at Calmbach train station are also planned. As part of this work, the safety nets and debris fences will also be checked and maintained in order to minimize future risks.
Passengers should be prepared for additional nighttime maintenance work to be carried out on the entire route after the full closure until November 13, 2025. On these nights the S6 light rail line is canceled from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

In view of these changes, it is advisable to visit the official ÖBB website to receive up-to-date information about construction sites and the progress of rail replacement services. At oebb.at you can also find out how to use the Passenger Rights Bot, which processes simple inquiries and concerns about train journeys.

It remains to be hoped that the work will be completed in time so that travelers can soon enjoy their usual mobility again. Thanks to these measures, the good hand for renovation and a safe driving experience will certainly be available again soon.
