Application start: International design scholarship for young talent!

The creative scene in Pforzheim is getting a new lease of life! Starting this week, young designers from all over the world can submit their applications for the international “Designers in Residence” scholarship program. The program is being advertised for the 11th time by the city of Pforzheim, the Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences and the Design Center Baden-Württemberg. Applications are possible until November 3, 2025, and the scholarship holders will then take up their place at the EMMA - Creative Center Pforzheim in April, where they will work on their projects until the end of June 2026. This is reported by the City of Pforzheim.

The “Designers in Residence” program is aimed at creative minds from a wide range of design fields such as jewelry, fashion, accessories, industrial and communication design. High competition is to be expected, as interest is constantly growing - most recently there were over 400 applications from 56 countries. This not only strengthens Pforzheim as a design location, but also gives it international visibility AGD reported.

Extensive support for scholarship holders

Scholarship holders can look forward to a variety of benefits. This includes access to fully equipped workshops, a coworking area and even free accommodation. In addition, the creatives receive monthly support of 1,000 euros as well as subsidies for material costs and travel costs. All of this is supported by committed partners such as Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw, C. Hafner and the Rotary Club Pforzheim-Schloßberg.

“The results of the work scholarships will be presented in a final exhibition at the EMMA, which offers the participants a valuable platform to give their talent a stage,” says Pforzheim University, which is extremely popular with designers due to its global reputation as a university city.

The expert jury and their expertise

The scholarship holders are selected by a top-class jury of experts, which this year has new faces. Anja Kaiser, Luzia Vogt and Charlett Wenig have chosen to be jury members - they bring different perspectives and support the scholarship holders' projects with their specialist knowledge. Melitta Baumeister and Almut Benkert complete the team. Kaiser deals with feminist themes in graphic design, Vogt has received numerous awards in jewelry design and Wenig focuses on biomaterials.
