Reach the finish line quickly: 11 minutes to Grunbach at the Klapphill” cycle race!

This year's “Klapphill/Maroder Asphalt” cycle race between Unterreichenbach and Grunbach took place on September 20, 2025 under a bright blue sky and summer temperatures. The event, organized by Jörg Schempf, was very popular and attracted a total of 110 participants, although this was a small decrease compared to the previous year's 140 participants. The communities of Engelsbrand and Unterreichenbach as well as the TC 7-Eichen provided active support for this sporting event, which was very well received by those present.

It started at the train station in 75399 Unterreichenbach before the cyclists tackled the challenging 3.6 kilometer route, which leads all the way uphill with an altitude difference of an impressive 322 meters. The route led over the renovated state road 338, which was once considered dilapidated. This improvement helped ensure that participants could look forward to a safe and well-prepared route.

Diversity of participants and programs

The race not only provided a platform for classic racing cyclists, but also a number of additional categories such as mountain bikes, e-bikes and even mountain runners. The latter were sparsely represented with only four participants, but the event showed that cycling in all its facets is very popular.

A special highlight was a folding bike launch, where decorated folding bikes from the 70s were presented - a real feast for the eyes. The new mayor Lukas Klingenberg gave the official starting signal, opening a varied program that also included a trial show by the 6-time bike trial world champion Nina Reichenbach. In the workshops, which were specifically aimed at children and young people, Nina not only imparted her skills, but also tips and tricks for aspiring bicycle enthusiasts.

Prizes and entertainment

The event was rounded off with a raffle in which prizes worth a total of 2,500 euros awaited participants, including a valuable watch. The Golden Flames cheerleaders also provided additional entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere in the audience. With all the cheering and enthusiasm, it was no wonder that the fastest competitor, Aaron Berliner, was able to claim top honors with an impressive time of just 11 minutes and 44 seconds on the racing bike.

In summary, it can be said that the “Klapphill/Maroder Asphalt” cycling race was not only a complete success for all those who wanted to take on the challenge of the route, but also for the spectators, who were able to enjoy the diverse supporting programs. The event once again showed that passion for cycling, combined with a community that actively gets involved, leads to unforgettable experiences.
