Muggensturm bathing lake: visitor capacity ensures new harmony!
At the Muggensturm bathing lake, a popular destination for sun seekers and water lovers, relaxation returns after turbulent days during the heat wave. The harsh atmosphere that was caused by a traffic jam at the entrance, heated discussions and a police operation on the two hot weekends at the end of June has now subsided. The trigger was the newly introduced visitor limit, which is intended to prevent overcrowding and the associated dangers. The measure is now facing mixed reactions from bathers as temperatures skyrocket again, as bnn.de reports.
Last Saturday, however, the bathing lake in Muggensturm was much quieter, with many free places so that visitors could swim and relax without stress. Opinions on the new regulation vary. Mary-Joann from Baden-Baden is in favor of the upper limit, but would like new visitors to be allowed in when guests leave. Marcel from Rastatt criticizes the closures of other pools, but shows understanding for the necessity of this measure. Another bather, Frank Weisenburger from Bietigheim, has no understanding of the upper limit, but is very satisfied with the cleanliness and supervision at the bathing lake.
Cap and security measures
The lifeguards seem to be right in their assessment that the upper limit and the new bans, such as the alcohol ban and the smoking ban in children's areas, are having positive effects. In the afternoon, a lifeguard assists with supervision, providing additional safety. However, there have been some incidents of young people climbing over the fence - behavior that some consider understandable but unacceptable.
Particularly noteworthy is the infrastructure at the swimming lake, which is well received by most visitors. The facilities offered, such as a kiosk, sufficient entrances and shady places, are valued as an advantage of the Muggensturm bathing lake. But not everything is golden: due to vandalism, the bathing island had to be dismantled for the time being.
A trend in other regions too
This summer, similar trends can be observed in outdoor pools and lakes across Germany. In Heilbronn, for example, where the outdoor pool season began on May 1st, the heat wave is causing a heavy rush, especially in the Neckarhalde, Kirchhausen and Gesundbrunnen outdoor pools, which often results in longer waiting times. Here, visitors are recommended to purchase online tickets in order to shorten the waiting time at the ticket offices, echo24.de reports.
The swimming pools in Aargau are similarly affected, where the heat not only increases the number of visitors to record levels, but also causes problems with parking in residential areas and littering. With over 5,000 entries on Sunday in Badener Terrassenbad and similar rushes in other facilities, the staff notices the challenges that these high numbers of visitors bring with them, as aargauerzeitung.ch reported.
The balance of the swimming pools could therefore be positive if the summer remains hot. However, local outdoor pools must prepare for the challenge of visitor numbers, safety and cleanliness to remain a constant focus.
