Parcel delivery in danger: Naturkost Bösehör files for bankruptcy!
Naturkostübelhör GmbH & Co. KG from Friesenhofen, Baden-Württemberg, is facing serious upheaval: the company filed for bankruptcy on October 15, 2025. This news hits like a wave through the industry, especially considering that, according to Allianz Trade, insolvency proceedings in Germany will increase by 11% in 2025, to a total of around 24,320 cases. In fact, 24,500 bankruptcies are expected for 2026, the highest figure in twelve years, and this shows that there is something wrong.
The insolvency was initiated by the Ravensburg district court, and the provisional insolvency administrator is lawyer Alexander Hubl from the law firm Schneider Geiwitz & Partner. The company, which was founded in 1987 and was once the market leader in chia seed cleaning, can no longer meet its financial obligations. The 38 jobs that are now in jeopardy are particularly affected.
Background to bankruptcy
But what does bankruptcy actually mean? Like that Law Forum explains, this is insolvency when creditors can no longer be satisfied from a debtor's assets. There are many reasons for opening insolvency proceedings: insolvency, impending insolvency or excessive indebtedness can play a role. The latter in particular is probably the decisive factor for Bösehörer, as the company can apparently no longer cover its existing liabilities.
In the past, Naturkost Bösehör imported high-quality organic raw materials from Peru, Mexico and the USA and operates the only cleaning plant for chia seeds in Europe at its headquarters. This uniqueness makes the current situation all the more regrettable, as it plays an important role not only for the employees but also for the entire region.
Future uncertain
Now the insolvency administrator has to use the stocks as quickly as possible because the organic raw materials are perishable. However, business activities are to be continued, with ongoing orders in the service business being processed. Nevertheless, the company's future remains uncertain; It is currently unclear whether a rescue is in sight or whether closure will become inevitable.
The employees look to an indefinite future. The possibility of applying for insolvency money is being examined in order to secure wages and salaries. To date, the company has not issued a statement on the situation, causing additional concern for potential creditors and affected employees. The coming months could be crucial for the future of Naturkost Löhner.
