Mössinger badminton team dominates: 6:0 points after three games!

Badminton, the sport that is currently booming in Germany and especially in the Baden-Württemberg region, is experiencing exciting times. After three match days, the Spvgg Mössingen badminton team leads the Baden-Württemberg League table with 6:0 points and an impressive set ratio of 23:1. How GEA reported, the defending champions were able to achieve two clear victories last weekend, with 8-0 each against the teams SG Heilbronn/Leingarten and SG Feuerbach/Korntal.

Particularly noteworthy: Mössingen only lost one set out of 16 matches played. This dominance was underlined at the weekend by the excellent performance of Nadja-Christine Reihle, who won 22:20 in the deciding set in a thrilling duel against Kathrin Schad. Another exciting match took place in the 8-0 win against Heilbronn, when the Mössinger player Frieder Tausch triumphed against Ronald Huber - it ended 23:21.

Climbers on the rise

Spvgg Mössingen, which is playing as a promoted team in the league this season, has clearly positioned itself as a championship contender. Mayor Michael Bulander praised the team as “sporting ambassadors for the city of Mössingen”. The club management, represented by board member Norbert von Wulfen and financial director Dieter Haap, also congratulated the team on their outstanding performance and victories. Even former players like local councilor Jochen Schelling celebrated these successes together with the current team.

When it comes to Spvgg's plans for the coming months, it is already clear that the first team will also aim for relegation to the regional league after the championship is over. But the other Spvgg teams are also showing strong: the second team leads the association league with 6:0 points, while the third team also shone with two 8:0 victories, which brought them to third place in the table.

Fighting spirit at PSV Reutlingen

But it's not just Mössingen that has excelled in badminton. PSV Reutlingen has also established itself in the association league and started with 5:1 points. In an exciting match against VfB Friedrichshafen, the team secured a 6-2 win and also achieved a 4-4 draw against SG Neuravensburg/Primisweiler, with Samuel Seitz, Mario Stephan and other players collecting a lot of points. Max Duong Phu's game was particularly dramatic, losing 18:21 in the deciding set.

Press spokeswoman Karin Geisenhofer emphasizes PSV's goal: a place in the top four is the aim. It remains to be seen whether the Reutlingen team can implement their plan, but the fighting spirit is definitely noticeable.

Badminton at a glance

Badminton has established itself as a popular sport in Germany. According to information from the German Badminton Association, the association had almost 175,000 members in 2024, while around 4.5 million recreational players are active without membership in a club. The first German championships took place in 1953 and the sport has steadily grown in popularity since then. Germany is currently one of the leading countries in Europe, with a large number of licensed players and a dynamic club life.

This much is certain: the sport of badminton in the region is booming, and fans can look forward to more exciting encounters and outstanding performances!
