On June 27th, a real festival for sport was celebrated in the Eichtersheim Castle Park! At the annual “Festival of Sports”, District Administrator Stefan Dallinger honored numerous athletes who have made a special contribution to the German Sports Badge in recent years. This prestigious badge is characterized by above-average physical performance and requires tests in the disciplines of endurance, strength, speed and coordination, rounded off by proof of swimming. How rhein-neckar-kreis.de Reportedly, a total of 63 people were honored, including 35 men and 28 women from various cities such as Angelbachtal, Berlin and Heidelberg.
A particular highlight of the evening was the presence of Gabriella Rozor, a world champion in Thai boxing, who spoke about the positive sides of martial arts. Dallinger summed up the importance of sport for the health of the population and announced funding of an impressive 443,000 euros for sporting activities in the Rhine-Neckar district. The evening was musically accompanied by the band “Easy Blue” and the Angelbachtal music association, while Doris Steinbeißer was the moderator.
Honorable awards for sporting achievements
Klaus Schäfer from Weinheim can be particularly proud: at the age of 89, he was honored for having achieved sports badges 45 times. The married couple Brigitte and Eugen Hertel from Reichartshausen were also among those honored. The distribution of the remote sports badges was impressive, so that among those honored, 13 people achieved the German sports badge at least 20 times, 8 people 25 times and even 1 person 60 times.

But sporting achievements are not only honored in Rhine-Neckar. Recently, on March 17th, an honorary event took place in the “Haus des Sports” in Kiel, at which around 60 women and men from Schleswig-Holstein were honored for their achievements with the German Sports Badge. The event was organized by the Schleswig-Holstein State Sports Association and celebrated the successes of athletes who have achieved the badge at least 35 times.
