Cycling for climate protection: CITY CYCLING starts in the Rhine-Neckar district!
On June 29, 2025 it will be “On your wheels, set, go!” in the Rhine-Neckar district. The popular CITY CYCLING cycling campaign is starting for the eighth time in a row. In the next 21 days, all citizens are called upon to cycle their everyday journeys and thus collect kilometers for their communities. This is not only a sign of sustainable mobility, but also contributes to a better climate - because every route cycled counts. Loud Rhine-Neckar district Last year, over 12,000 cyclists collectively covered more than 2.4 million kilometers.
The opening of the action weeks will take place in Neckargemünd, where District Administrator Stefan Dallinger will welcome the participants. To easily record the kilometers collected, all participants can use the free CITY CYCLING app, which enables GPS tracking. Climate protection motivates participation
The initiative to take part in CITY CYCLING aims to not only change your own riding style, but also to make an active contribution to climate protection. In 2024, the campaign avoided almost 400 tons of CO2, which has far-reaching effects on the environment. In this way, cyclists make a valuable contribution to achieving the climate protection goals required by the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM). This emphasizes the importance of sustainable and active transportation as part of environmentally friendly mobility, such as BALM highlights.

CITY CYCLING is more than just a local event. It is a sign of the nationwide movement towards sustainable mobility solutions. The Federal Mobility Forum, which was launched on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport, is actively working to promote cycling and to create safe, environmentally friendly mobility.
