Cycling for climate protection: CITY CYCLING starts in the Rhine-Neckar district!
On June 29, 2025 it will be “On your wheels, set, go!” in the Rhine-Neckar district. The popular CITY CYCLING cycling campaign is starting for the eighth time in a row. In the next 21 days, all citizens are called upon to cycle their everyday journeys and thus collect kilometers for their communities. This is not only a sign of sustainable mobility, but also contributes to a better climate - because every route cycled counts. Loud Rhine-Neckar district Last year, over 12,000 cyclists collectively covered more than 2.4 million kilometers.
The opening of the action weeks will take place in Neckargemünd, where District Administrator Stefan Dallinger will welcome the participants. To easily record the kilometers collected, all participants can use the free CITY CYCLING app, which enables GPS tracking. Alternatively, you have the option of reporting mileage via the website or through a flyer. Registration to participate is via the website www.stadtradeln.de/rhein-neckar-kreis possible.
Climate protection motivates participation
The initiative to take part in CITY CYCLING aims to not only change your own riding style, but also to make an active contribution to climate protection. In 2024, the campaign avoided almost 400 tons of CO2, which has far-reaching effects on the environment. In this way, cyclists make a valuable contribution to achieving the climate protection goals required by the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM). This emphasizes the importance of sustainable and active transportation as part of environmentally friendly mobility, such as BALM highlights.
Attention loyal cyclists: If you cycle to the KLIMA ARENA in Sinsheim during this period and show the CITY CYCLING app, you can enjoy free entry. This campaign has the potential to not only promote cycling, but also strengthen the sense of community.
A look beyond the region
CITY CYCLING is more than just a local event. It is a sign of the nationwide movement towards sustainable mobility solutions. The Federal Mobility Forum, which was launched on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport, is actively working to promote cycling and to create safe, environmentally friendly mobility. The aim is to shift traffic to climate-friendly alternatives - especially in rural areas. The commitment of the municipalities goes hand in hand with the nationwide efforts in this area.
Take the chance and take part in the cycling campaign! There is not only a good reason to cycle for the environment, but also for your health and well-being. Come along and show your neighbors and friends that sustainable mobility on two wheels is fun!
