Strike in public transport: Massive bus cancellations on September 22nd and 23rd!
Bus traffic in the Rhine-Neckar region will be significantly chaotic on Monday, September 22nd, from 8 a.m. until Tuesday, September 23rd, at midnight. The Speyer Courier reports on a strike call by the United Services Union (Ver.di), which affects all employees of BRN GmbH. The reason for this is the employer's refusal to draw up valid collective agreements, as well Mannheim24 determines. In addition to the Rhine-Neckar district, the Neckar-Odenwald district and neighboring areas are also affected by this strike.
BRN GmbH employs around 450 people in driving services, administration and workshops. At this critical time, all BRN bus services are affected, which is particularly a challenge for students and commuters Mannheim24. In addition to school transport, the everyday bus routes that many passengers use will also be eliminated:
- Ladenburg – Schriesheim: Linien 624, 625, 626, 627, 628, 629, 630

Passengers must remain flexible
The transport companies are calling on passengers to avoid non-essential journeys and to consider alternative means of transport. Current information on timetables and possible diversions is available via the myVRN app or the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar GmbH website. This measure is particularly important to counteract the inconveniences during the strike.
Ver.di has announced that this strike is part of a larger protest against the current collective bargaining policy. Similar strikes in local public transport are also to be expected in other federal states ZDF today reported. The union is dissatisfied with the current offer of a 3% wage increase and is instead calling for an increase in table wages by 350 euros.
It remains to be seen whether the employers can be persuaded to reach an agreement so that the affected employees, students and commuters are no longer subjected to torture. For everyone who depends on the buses, it is now time to remain flexible and carefully weigh up the options.
