Sonorous masterpieces: concert with organ and French horn in Tennenbronn
An impressive concert took place in Tennenbronn, which won the hearts of music lovers in no time. The organ and French horn unfolded their fullness of sound in the church of St. Johann Baptist. The young organist Silvan Meschke, born in 2005, and the talented French horn player Johanna Weißer, born in 2008, amazed the audience. Meschke, multiple award winner and finalist in the German Music Competition, has been studying church music in Leipzig since October 2024. Weißer also shows her skills and has already collected awards from “Jugend musiziert”.
The concert opened with an impressive prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach. The Seifert organ presented itself in all its splendor before Meschke and Weißer segued into a captivating duet with Joseph Haydn's horn concerto. Meschke's virtuoso fugues made the Bach compositions an experience. Particularly noteworthy was the performance of the “3rd part of the piano exercise ‘These are the holy ten commandments’” by Bach, which was reduced for piano.
A spectacle of harmonies
The next piece became emotional: “Kaddish for horn solo” by Lev Kogan, which Weißer interpreted with deep feeling. The continuation with Bach's “Fugue à la Gigue” offered a lively conclusion to the first half of the program. The Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Sonata in D minor, which offered a strong contrast, followed immediately. A musical competition between Meschke and Weißer led to another duet in which the skills of both musicians were allowed to shine.
After about an hour full of wonderful sounds, the audience received enthusiastic applause, including a long ovation. The audience was surprised with an encore: “Ave Maria,” which rang in harmonious harmony with the church bells.
Promote and inspire talent
The concert evening was not only an expression of musical talent, but also part of the larger framework that was brought to life by the “Jugend musiziert” competition. Every year, this competition motivates thousands of young musicians to achieve artistic achievements and provides an important platform for music-loving young people to meet. acv-deutschland.de is committed to the organ sector both ideologically and financially.
Silvan Meschke also did brilliantly at the national competition “Youth making music” and was able to accept his first prize in the solo organ category after a great performance in the St. Jacobi Church in Lübeck. As rp-online.de reports, Meschke led the audience with his technical skills and the emotional depth of his pieces through a multi-layered program that captivated the listeners.
A look into the future suggests that both Meschke and Weißer will be highly sought after as talents in the music sector. Their short but impressive performances in Tennenbronn make you want more - the next concert can't come soon enough!
