New residential project in Dornhan: Barrier-free apartments from summer 2026!

On June 28, 2025, the community of Dornhan celebrated the topping-out ceremony for a new, assisted living complex on Schillerstrasse. This exciting project, which is being realized by Merz Wohnbau from Rottweil, is inspiring not only buyers but also local residents.Under the raised roofs of the future building, 22 attractive apartments with 2.5 rooms each will be created, supplemented by a meeting place that offers space for community and exchange.

Construction began at the end of 2024 and is expected to be completed in summer 2026. Particular attention is paid to the accessibility of the building. The entire building will be equipped with an elevator, enabling comfortable coexistence for all generations.

Sustainable construction for a better environment

The modern residential project invests around five million euros, including the land. Heating takes place via a local heating network that draws its heat from a biogas plant, which is not only ecologically sensible but also forward-looking.The investors attach great importance to buyers receiving individual advice on furnishings so that everyone feels comfortable and can design their home according to their own ideas.

The demand speaks for itself: 21 of 22 apartments have already been sold or are about to be sold. Only one apartment is still available. This shows a great interest in barrier-free and assisted living.

Barrier-free living for everyone

The concept of barrier-free living is very important. It not only enables people with disabilities to lead a self-determined life, but also older people and families with children. This form of living minimizes the need to change residence in critical life situations and at the same time relieves the burden on care facilities and their staff.

The importance of accessibility is illustrated by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which stipulates a self-determined life for everyone. It is therefore important for project developers to integrate these aspects cost-effectively in new construction projects. Barrier-free living can be implemented with almost no significant additional costs, which is also supported by various funding options such as grants from nursing or accident insurance companies.

Following the topping-out ceremony, a social gathering took place in the common room of the senior center, where craftsmen, buyers and representatives of the social welfare association and the city celebrated together. Physical well-being was taken care of, and there was music and a good atmosphere.

The future residential project in Dornhan is not only a benefit for the buyers, but also a significant step for the entire community. The combination of modern apartments, a meeting place and the direct connection to the seniors' nursing home as well as basic care from Diakonie Dornhan ensures that the residents' needs are the focus.
