Power outages in the Rottweil district: darkness over Bösingen & Oberndorf!
On the night of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, there was a mysterious power outage in the Rottweil district that affected several communities. At around 10:30 p.m. the time had come: the lights went out and it became tranquilly dark. According to NRWZ, the outage lasted until around 1:00 a.m. when power finally returned at 12:13 a.m. The communities affected were Bösingen, Dunningen, Epfendorf, Villingendorf and the city of Oberndorf.
The explanation from the network operator Netze BW is interesting: a technical defect in an equipment, such as a cable or a fuse, was the culprit - but the exact cause remained unclear. The situation was similar in Dietingen, where a short additional power outage of just two minutes was reported. Here, too, it is not entirely clear what exactly went wrong, while failures also occurred in neighboring towns in the Zollernalb district, such as Dautmergen, Rosenfeld and Zimmern.
Power outages in numbers
- Sulz am Neckar: 18 Ausfälle
- Vöhringen: 7 Ausfälle
- Deißlingen: 4 Ausfälle
- Rottweil: 1 Ausfall
- Bösingen: 1 Ausfall
- Villingendorf: 1 Ausfall
As far as the months are concerned, an overview shows that July has two outages alongside January - an indication that the summer months can certainly be affected by disruptions.
Prevention is the best method
But what is the best way to deal with a power outage? The Workers' Samaritan Association has some useful tips here. It's important to stay calm! Anyone who is at home in such a situation should not call the police or fire department as it is not an emergency. Instead, Netze BW advises you to visit the website www.treibsauskunft.de to receive current information.
Preparation for possible power outages should be approached by telephone or online. According to the experts, it is essential to have alternatives to electrically powered devices as well as supplies of food, heat and light on hand. Ultimately, a power failure can paralyze vital infrastructure, such as water pumps and supermarket checkouts.
In Germany, however, the situation with power outages generally looks somewhat better: in 2022, the average duration of outages per consumer was only 12.2 minutes, an improvement compared to the previous year, reports VDI-Nachrichten. These positive developments are a ray of hope, even if the affected communities certainly want their services to be restored as quickly as possible.
So, always stay prepared and have a good plan ready the next time it gets dark!
