Wolfgang Hepp leaves the Fallers: A farewell full of emotions!

The farewell to Wolfgang Hepp leaves its mark. After 31 years in the ensemble of “The Fallers,” the popular actor has resigned from his role as Hermann Faller. Hepp, who has been the heart of the series since September 1994, is considered a defining figure in the history of the format. In his role as a farmer and ex-mayor of the Fallerhof, he impressed audiences not only in Germany but also far beyond. SWR director Kai Gniffke praises Hepp as an “impressive actor” and highlights his special achievements within the series. “The Fallers” tells the life of a fictional Black Forest farming family and is filmed not only in the picturesque Black Forest, but also in the SWR studios in Baden-Baden.

Wolfgang Hepp was born on January 28, 1941 in Singen am Hohentwiel and started his theater career in 1962 after training at the renowned Otto Falckenberg Drama School in Munich. His path took him through engagements in Ulm, Kassel, Düsseldorf, Basel and Bonn to unforgettable highlights, such as the role of the monk in “Nathan the Wise” and the corpus in “The Heraklion” at the Basel Theater. He was also convincing on television - he could be seen in series such as “Um Himmels Willen”, “SOKO Wien” and “Ein Fall für zwei”. His twelve appearances on the SWR “Tatort” are particularly highlighted, where he solved exciting cases as Detective Wolf alongside Ulrike Folkerts.

A new chapter

The decision to continue developing the series after Hepp's departure is no coincidence. With Hepp’s “farewell” the focus is on the next generation. The creators of “The Fallers” aim to introduce contemporary themes and new faces to appeal to a younger audience. After “Lindenstraße”, “Die Fallers” is the oldest weekly series on German television, which has been broadcasting around 40 episodes a year since 1994 - on Sundays at 7:15 p.m., also in the ARD media library. On average, around 1.25 million viewers nationwide follow the stories of the Faller family, which opens a new chapter with Hepp's farewell and wants to continue its success story.

Wolfgang Hepp not only embodies a character, but also shaped an unforgettable era with his performance. His return to the stage or television remains to be seen, but at Fallerhof his place in the hearts of viewers and in the history of the series will always remain.
