65 years of the Trossingen Concert Hall: A celebration of music history!
The concert hall in Trossingen is 65 years old this year and looks back on an impressive history. Founded as part of the “Ernst Hohner Music Schools” project in the 1950s, the house was significantly influenced by Ernst Hohner, the director of Hohner AG. The project was launched on the occasion of his 70th birthday in 1956, and the laying of the foundation stone for the concert hall took place in 1957 during the 100th anniversary of Hohner AG. The concert hall was ceremoniously inaugurated on May 22, 1960 and has been a popular meeting place for music lovers ever since. Black Forest messenger reports that the concert hall was the venue for the “Hohner House Orchestra” from the beginning, and that many important events with national and international artists took place in the first decades.
Although the original plan to build several music education institutions could not be fully implemented, the concert hall remains a cultural monument to this day and has been a listed building since the 1980s. During the comprehensive renovation in 2010, 1.2 million euros were invested, half of which came from the II economic stimulus package. What is particularly pleasing is that the original structure of the house has largely been preserved.
Events and tours
The concert hall not only attracts visitors because of its history, but also offers a variety of events and guided tours. For all music enthusiasts, there are guided backstage tours that provide an exclusive insight into the soloist rooms and orchestra dressing rooms. Here, participants learn exciting anecdotes from music history and even have the opportunity to stop by a rehearsal. These tours are also available in sign language, ensuring an inclusive experience for everyone. A special highlight are the family tours such as the “Sound Journey”, where children aged 3 to 8 can experiment with various materials and instruments under the guidance of experienced music educators. For older children, the “Puzzle Rally” was created, which is recommended for ages 6 to 12 and in which the discovery of the large concert hall is combined with exciting questions and puzzles. Anyone who would like to experience the tours can book them for a price of 8.50 euros for adults and 4 euros for children. Children up to 6 years of age have free entry. The concert hall provides detailed information about the tours, which last around 60 minutes and are offered in German and English.
The result of the renovation
Thanks to the extensive renovation, the concert hall now presents itself in modern splendor and is ready to welcome the next generations of music lovers. Every visit to the concert hall not only offers cultural enrichment, but is also a piece of history that lives on. For the coming years, the concert hall is planning a variety of events that are sure to attract many visitors. Music lovers in Trossingen and beyond can look forward to this!
