Furtwangen votes: Ketterer relies on digitalization and city dialogue!

In Furtwangen, where the political waves will soon rise again, preparations for the mayoral election are in full swing. There are two exciting candidates in the race for office: Mario Ketterer, an experienced management consultant, and Isolde Grieshaber, the proven city councilor and deputy mayor. Both bring different perspectives and skills to the election campaign.

Mario Ketterer (42), who is running for mayor, has clear visions for the city. He places particular emphasis on digitalization and dialogue with citizens in order to revitalize the city center. “It is important that we create new seating areas to increase the quality of stay,” said Ketterer. At the same time, he warns of the possible disadvantages that such a project could have for retailers, particularly the loss of parking spaces. Ketterer calls for a comprehensive exchange with the affected actors before projects are implemented. However, savings on child and senior care as well as on events and clubs are not an issue for him; Instead, he sees potential for savings, especially with external service providers and projects that have not been implemented. He would also like to examine alternative financing options in order to relieve the burden on city budgets. “We also need to invest in infrastructure, especially in kindergartens, primary schools and age-appropriate housing,” he adds. Energy-saving measures and the use of existing funding are also important to him in order to make the city's budget sensible. Ketterer leaves no doubt about his attitude as a solution-oriented person: “I answer critical questions openly,” he assures.

Isolde Grieshaber: An experienced local politician

On the other side is Isolde Grieshaber, who has been active in local politics for many years. She has been a city councilor and deputy mayor since 2019, bringing with her valuable experience and insights into city administration. “I have always had an ear for the concerns of citizens and strive to promote education and quality of life for all generations,” she emphasizes. Grieshaber also has extensive voluntary experience, including as a parent representative and chairwoman during her children's kindergarten and school years. She has made a name for herself professionally in the financial sector for over 20 years and has worked in accounting and human resources.

Grieshaber describes her professional reorientation as a challenge, which she also sees as a strength. She actively sought dialogue with school management and school authorities in order to advance relevant topics for Furtwangen. “As mayor, I want to implement the issues in the city center and the districts and thereby make a lasting difference,” she says.

In summary, it can be said that the citizens of Furtwangen will have to make exciting decisions in the coming weeks. Ketterer and Grieshaber both seem to have a good handle on local challenges, and the election campaign will certainly offer one or two highlights. It will be interesting to see which approaches and solutions will be at the center of the discussion.
