Community free time in Sigmaringen: Together with Asterix & Obelix!
In the Free Christian community of Sigmaringen, a special community period was held from May 29 to June 1, 2025 under the motto "grow together". The aim of this gathering was to strengthen relationships and strengthen the community, especially at a time that is shaped by individualization and loneliness, such as the Schwäbische Zeitung reported.
with proud 90 participants, whose age from 3 months to 80 years, offered the Naturfreundehaus in Stetten a. k. M. the perfect framework for extensive program design. Pastor Martin Kontz led through vivid sermons, whereby Asterix and Obelix not only brought the little ones to smile in the service, but also received an important order from Majestix. The theme of the sermon was how important it is to find a common basis despite contrasts and differences.
activities and community experiences
The participants had the opportunity to take part in various activities, including forest tours with foresters, hikes and climbing on the Danube. The conviviality was not neglected either: a lot was laughed at and discussed about darts, Vikingschach and group competitions. The kitchen team ensured a diverse and delicious food offer that was very well received by young and old.
The profound discussions in small groups, which not only promoted the exchange of thoughts and experiences, were particularly noteworthy, but also offered the opportunity to practically implement the impulses of the sermons. The participants then reported about enriching encounters that they welded together and their plans for more intensive contacts in the future.
The power of the community in faith
community not only plays an important role in Sigmaringen. The devotion illuminated how important the mutual support in the Christian community is. A central Bible verse that underlines this idea is: "Iron is sharpened by iron; as a man sharpens the character of his friend" (sayings 27:17). This shows how much the spiritual growth promotes and offers consolation.
In today's world, many people feel a longing for meaningful community, as is also evident using an example from the original community in the history of apostles. Paul's message in 1,14.14 that everything should happen in love remains a central reminder for all Christian communities.
Young people also emphasize the importance of the community prayer as a source of strength. A survey among young people has shown that common prayer not only strengthens the feeling of solidarity, but also promotes deeper conversations and sharing spiritual experiences. As the new evangelization Passau reports, many feel like in the community as in a large, loving family that gives up and invites you to discover faith together.
All in all, the community time in Sigmaringen impressively shows how valuable a strong community is and what strength it can develop in faith. It remains exciting to observe how the participants will integrate what they have learned and experienced in their future togetherness.
