Two Saulgau skat players win a spot for the German championship!

Fighting is tough in skat, and the one in Bad Saulgau is a prime example of this. Two players from this region have successfully qualified for the German Skat Championships. Klaus Brömer and Mathias Manzke are ready to demonstrate their skills in Hanover. How did they do that? Let's take a closer look at their impressive achievements.

In order to be able to take part in the German Skat Championships, there are hurdles to overcome. First it's about qualifying for the Baden-Württemberg championship and then for the German one. In January, Klaus Brömer scored 5,824 points in an exciting competition at the individual championship of the Lake Constance-Upper Swabia association group and ended up in 15th place, which secured him a ticket to the Baden-Württemberg championship.

Klaus Brömer's path to the championship

In April he then competed at the BW Championship, where 107 Skat players competed in six series for the title in two days and played for 25 qualifying places for the German Championship. Brömer started strong with 1,624 points in the first series and took third place. In the following series he was able to stay at the top of the field, but fell back to 27th place after the fifth series.

But giving up is not his style. With a strong final series, he improved again to 9th place and was able to qualify for the “German” with a total number of points of 6,649. This championship will take place on the last weekend of June in Hanover, where the best players will play in eight series for the title of German Skat Champion 2025.

Another talent: Mathias Manzke

Mathias Manzke also shows himself to be a true fighter. He is not only chairman of SC Bad Saulgau, but also won his first tournament in the board tournament. With a strong 3,516 points, he secured one of the coveted 14 qualifying places. In the board tournament, the conditions for participation are somewhat stricter, as only players who serve on the board of their clubs can take part.

The board championship also takes place in Hanover, on the last weekend in August, where six series are held. This will be exciting because Mathias Manzke also wants to show what he can do!
