Mood of crisis at SC Riessersee: Pre-playoffs a long way off!
The ice hockey club SC Riessersee (SCR) suffered a bitter setback last weekend. With a 2:5 defeat against the Stuttgart Rebels, the SCR fell out of the pre-playoff places for the 2025/26 league season after 13 games. This defeat is further evidence of the ongoing problems of the team, which has not shown any significant development on the ice for over a year. That's what he reports Mercury.
The game against the Rebels, who have repeatedly struggled with negative headlines in recent years, started promisingly for the SCR. The experienced Lubor Dibelka gave the team the lead. But the luck didn't last long: Christopher Chyzowski was sent off the ice for a penalty, which gave the Rebels the opportunity to equalize. As a result, the Stuttgart team, who were slowly but surely able to stabilize after their promotion in 2023, achieved success with goals from David Kirchhoff and Daniel Pronin. Wyatt Schingoethe, who has already collected eight scorer points in the last three games, put the end of a disappointing performance from the SCR with his goal to make it 5:2.
Lack of continuity and lack of analysis
As the SCR's current balance sheet shows, the team is having a hard time in the top league. The last few games already gave an idea that something was wrong. There was a bitter 2:9 defeat against Memmingen, followed by what was now the second defeat within a short period of time against the Rebels. The team has been showing a worrying trend for a long time: too many penalty times and unused advantage opportunities are putting the SCR under increasing pressure.
The club's approach of being patient with its talent and pursuing long-term development, while laudable, falls short of expectations. With experienced players like Dibelka and Alexander Höller, who could also draw from a talented player base, more would have been possible. The results so far show that this plan is not yet working in practice.
The Stuttgart Rebels, on the other hand, have charted a clear course thanks to a successful mix of young talents, licensed players from Jungadler Mannheim and experienced players like Toni Ritter. With currently 19 points, they have reached a pleasing pre-playoff position, a position that the SCR is currently aiming for in vain.
The SCR now has to quickly analyze the causes of the current misery and act accordingly. This is the only way the team can avoid sinking further into the relegation swamp. Further information about the club's location is available at sc.gov/residents to find.
