New SWR Studio Tübingen: Opening with the open day on July 26th!
On July 26, 2025, a new chapter in media history will be opened in Tübingen: The SWR Studio Tübingen celebrates its opening, exactly 75 years after the first broadcast of the SWF State Studio Tübingen. Like radio scene , the studio invites you to an open house on this day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit.
The new multimedia studio building, which went on the air on July 24, 1950 with the first show, is located on the Tübinger Österberg, above the old radio station. The previously used building from 1954 was in need of renovation and no longer met the modern requirements. A smaller and more efficient studio is now being presented with a new building standard - ideal for the challenges of today's media landscape.
Details on the new building
The construction of the new SWR studio in Tübingen started in August 2022 and extended for around two years. Commissioning was already planned for December 2024, as Competitions Aktuell . The slim and compact new building extends over a gross base area of 3,010 square meters and offers users space for foyer, event area and flexible offices.
The building was built taking into account ecological standards: it corresponds to the energy efficiency house standard KfW 55 and is equipped with a photovoltaic system that generates CO2-neutral electricity for the heat pumps. The barrier -free access to all levels is also an important aspect of planning, which was designed according to the guidelines of DIN 18040.
a place for the region
Studiole leader Marcel Wagner emphasizes the proximity of the new studio to the Neckar-Alb and Northern Black Forest region and speaks of a place that is intended to serve as an identification point in the Österberg district. The state -speaking director Stefanie Schneider emphasizes the importance of multimedia work, which is reflected in the new infrastructure. Visitors can look forward to a varied program of talks, quiz, live music and comedy, which celebrates the opening of the studio.
The financing of the new building was made possible from the sale of the old building as well as savings in the renovation costs and the reduced operating and energy costs. It is pointed out that there are no parking spaces available at the new location, which is why visitors are asked to use public transport.
The SWR Studio Tübingen is therefore not only a new home for innovative media work, but also a place that promotes exchange with the region and enriches the media landscape.
