Southside Festival 2025: Music, heat and great atmosphere in Neuhausen!
The Southside Festival in Neuhausen ob Eck has opened its doors and welcomes music lovers from all over Germany from today until Sunday. Despite the summer heat, with temperatures that could reach up to 37 degrees, 56,000 visitors have already turned up on Friday afternoon to experience the spectacle up close. [SWR] reports that the holiday in Baden-Württemberg in particular caused many fans to arrive on Thursday, which further fueled the mood.
A highlight of the festival are the top acts such as Jan Böhmermann, Nina Chuba, Green Day, SDP, AnnenMayKantereit, Alligatoah, Apache 207 and The Prodigy. But even though discussions about this year's line-up are lively, tickets for all three days are still on sale. The festival is not sold out this year, which suits some fans who want to plan at short notice.
Camping and infrastructure
The camping options are just as diverse as the music acts. Festival visitors can spend the night in tents or caravans on the former airfield. Access to the camping area is only possible with a valid festival wristband, which you receive against an entry ticket. [Southside] attaches great importance to safety: open fires are strictly prohibited on the entire site, and escape routes in the camping area must be kept clear.
Customers are only allowed to use 5 square meters per person on the festival meadow, which means groups should arrive together so that they have enough space for their tents. Sanitary facilities are adequate, with free showers and toilets, including special shower options for trans*, inter and non-binary people. An innovative option is to rent power stations during the festival so that fans can conveniently charge their mobile devices.
Safety and prevention
With the well-being of guests in mind, the police have also issued instructions for safe behavior at festivals. Anticipatory behavior is crucial in order to identify dangers at an early stage. [NRW Police] emphasizes that awareness of security at major events such as the Southside Festival is not a narrow framework, but rather a valuable contribution to the shared experience.
Weather conditions are also an important aspect. The high heat makes soft drinks and sunscreen a must. The German Weather Service recommends that, since people on the festival grounds protect themselves well, free sunscreen dispensers are even set up. Many visitors also cooled down with wet hats to beat the heat wave.
The mood barometers show that things are quieter at the Southside Festival than in previous years, which many visitors find pleasant. No major incidents have been reported so far and it is hoped that the good spirits will continue until the final note sounds on Sunday.
