SSV Ulm in training camp: Preparation for the 3rd league in Mals!

The footballers of SSV Ulm 1846 are currently visiting the beautiful Reschensee holiday region in Mals, where they are holding their summer training camp from July 5th to 12th, 2025. The third division team from Baden-Württemberg, also known as “the Sparrows”, is using this intensive preparation phase to optimally prepare for the upcoming season in the 3rd division. The team is in Organic Hotel Panorama housed in a picturesque location between the South Tyrolean mountains.

A highlight of the training days so far was an exciting football tennis tournament on July 10th that brought nine teams together. In the final, the players from the Kölle team – including Chessa and Boller – prevailed against the team led by Castelle and Aksakal. This was not only an entertaining event, but also a good opportunity to strengthen team spirit. In the afternoon, rafting on the Etsch was on the agenda, which provided the necessary adrenaline rush.

Training intensity and tactics

The first days of the training camp were characterized by high intensity. On July 9th, the players went through an 11 against 11 training session, followed by tactics discussions and different team formations. On the morning of July 6th, close game situations were already taking place, and coaches Robert Lechleiter and Jan Boller emphasized the importance of a quick passing game. Athletic training is also not neglected in order to optimally prepare the players for the physical challenges of the new season.

Another interesting aspect of the training camp is the return of Lukas Mazagg, a 25-year-old central defender from Glurns, who wears his number 27. He and many other players want to develop a good feeling for the upcoming challenges with the team. There are also numerous fans and partners on site who can observe the training and exchange ideas with the players.

Test match against FC Obermais

A very special event is coming up on July 11th: At 6 p.m. SSV Ulm 1846 will face FC Obermais, who were recently promoted to Serie D, in a friendly. With Tizian Stecher, Alexander Gander and Marco Paulmichl, three players from Vinschgau are in the FC Obermais squad. This encounter promises to be an exciting duel not only for the people of Ulm, but also for the local football fans.

The preparation in Mals is organized by the Mals sports club under President Helmut Thurner, in close cooperation with the municipality of Mals and the Reschensee holiday region. This ensures that everything is optimally prepared for the team to start the new season in the best possible way after the training camp.
