Deserved retirement: Susanne Riehle has shaped surveying for 35 years!
The Zollernalbkreis district is saying goodbye to a very special personality: Susanne Riehle, the head of the office for surveying and land reorganization, is retiring after 35 years in public service. She spent 15 of those years in the Zollernalb district. Her entire professional life was characterized by a tireless commitment to accuracy and care, which was particularly appreciated by District Administrator Günther-Martin Pauli. “She always had a good knack for competently mastering the challenges of surveying,” said the district administrator.
Riehle began her career after studying surveying in Karlsruhe in 1990 at the Tübingen land consolidation office. As can be read on Wikipedia, publicly appointed surveyors are entrusted with sovereign tasks and must meet strict requirements in order to be approved to carry out cadastral surveys. Riehle's path led her to the Tübingen regional council in 2005, where she held various positions in ministries and offices before moving to the Zollernalbkreis district office in 2010.
Half a decade of expertise
For almost a decade she headed the Office for Surveying and Land Reorganization, where she was responsible for over 40 employees, trainees and students. In 2016 she was appointed head of office and initiated numerous projects. Particularly noteworthy is the establishment of BürgerGIS, an online platform that provides geoinformation about the Zollernalb district. The digitization of the property cadastral files also fell within her area of responsibility.
With her knowledge and experience, Riehle significantly shaped the surveying landscape in the region. Your achievements have provided lasting support not only to the administration, but also to the citizens. “It is the human element that was always at the forefront of your work,” said an employee who valued her as a team leader. Their care and commitment will be gratefully remembered throughout the district.
A formative influence
Riehle's career is an example of the importance of surveying in public administration. Publicly appointed surveyors play a central role when it comes to creating the basis for planning and building applications and providing information from the property cadastre. Without the use of experts like Riehle, who, in addition to their sovereign tasks, also carry out private legal work, orderly spatial planning would be unthinkable.
As of December 31, 2018, there were 1,334 publicly appointed surveyors active in Germany, and while this does not cover the entire range of surveying professions, it shows the relevance of these professionals Wikipedia.
Susanne Riehle leaves behind a great legacy and will go down in history in the region for her precise and human nature. We wish her all the best for her new phase of life!
