New Reicherstein town thoroughfare opened: A milestone for traffic safety!
After around seven months of construction, the Reicherstein through town is now officially open to traffic. This positive announcement comes almost three months earlier than originally planned, which shows that a good hand has been demonstrated in planning and implementation. The project covers an impressive length of 700 meters and not only includes a new roadway width of 6 meters, but also a 1.50 meter wide sidewalk that is intended to increase pedestrian safety.
Particularly worth mentioning is the increase in curb height to 10 centimeters to protect pedestrians. Various traffic calming measures such as central islands and crossing aids were also implemented, which are particularly beneficial for pedestrians and cyclists. Further improvements included the renewal of the roadway, a new route and extensive drainage.
Lighthouse project with many facets
Another aspect is the modernized street lighting that comes with the expansion. In addition, the telecommunications company laid new lines, which also included broadband expansion. This is particularly relevant as the digital connection of communities is becoming increasingly important. The Federal Network Agency supports such projects by creating guidelines for laying fiber optic cables in order to leverage synergies and thus increase efficiency during expansion. This is a step in the right direction, not only for Reicherstein, but for the entire region.
The Pöttmes market had already renovated the sewer system and parts of the water pipes in advance, which made it easier for the construction work to proceed smoothly. The construction work was awarded to the company Holl Tiefbau GmbH from Burgheim, while the planning and construction management were carried out by WipflerPLAN planning company mbH. The project was led by the civil engineering/construction department of the Aichach-Friedberg district office, which coordinated the total gross construction costs of around 2.1 million euros.
A look into the future
The challenges in the infrastructure and transport sectors are increasing. Intense competition between governments to attract long-term capital is expected, according to experts at KPMG. A lack of global standards complicates things and increases costs at the same time. This makes sustainable solutions that advance from an idealistic principle to an economic imperative all the more important. Intelligent infrastructure also requires flexible and dynamic asset management - an issue that also plays a role in Reicherstein through broadband expansion.
In summary, it can be said that the opening of the Reicherstein through town not only brings an improvement in road conditions, but also represents an important step towards the digital future from which we will all benefit. In addition to a better designed infrastructure, such projects show targeted cooperation between municipalities and companies that focus on sustainable developments - and this is a development that is very popular.
