An eventful time for the parishes of Altötting, Altötting-Süd and Unterzholzhausen: From January 16th to 18th, 2026, Bishop Stefan Oster SDB was traveling in the region and met with full-time and volunteer staff from the three parishes. His visit was a special event marked by intensive discussions and a festive conclusion.
One of the highlights was the thanksgiving service in the St. Josef Church in Altötting-Süd. There, Bishop Oster expressed his gratitude for the encounters with the local people. He connected “the many pilgrims and visitors” with the challenge of making everyday parish life harmonious. In his sermon, he spoke about the privilege of living at the place of pilgrimage and urged the congregation to always keep the joy of God's presence in their hearts and to cultivate relationships with God and their fellow human beings. The encouragement was also followed by a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated helpers who contributed to carrying out the visitation. The service was musically accompanied by the St. Josef singing ensemble, which performed Joseph Rheinberger's “Missa in G,” which further enriched the celebration.
